Text-to-Chat
Safely contact the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment.
We know how hard it is to seek help when you are experiencing relationship violence, and we want to make accessing that help as easy as possible. Making a phone call to a support line or leaving the house is not always possible. And for many, an online chat might feel more comfortable than a phone call or initially meeting with an advocate in person.
Our text-to-chat hotline utilizes the online platform Tip411. To chat with us please read the safety advisory below and fill out the form. We’re also able to receive texts by texting the keyword “YWCANEKS” followed by your message to 847-411.
Monitored Hours:
The text-to-chat hotline is monitored weekdays (Monday through Friday) from 1pm-5pm. Any messages received outside of these times will receive a response during the next operating hours. Please let us know if it is NOT safe to reply at anytime. Otherwise, please reach out during our hours of operation or call our 24-hour hotline at 1-888-822-2983.
If you are in immediate danger, please call 911.
Do not send attachments (files or images) when utilizing this form to contact YWCA Northeast Kansas.
Safety Advisory
Our web chat is end-to-end encrypted. Therefore, only you and the advocate you’re chatting with can read the content of the messages being sent. The content of the messages do not get saved anywhere on your device. Once you close the chat window, the history of the messages will be gone.
However, there are still important safety risks to be aware of:
We cannot fully protect texts that we receive from your cell phone. These text messages must be deleted by you and may still appear on your phone record. There is no technology anywhere that can prevent information from being read on a device that has a virus, malware, or spyware installed on it.
If you believe your device may have been compromised, it is safer to use another device to connect with us or call our 24/7 hotline from an unmonitored phone, 1-888-822-2983
